2022 Caring for Birds!

Celebrate Spring with the Wildlife Center of Virginia's special Caring for Songbirds program!

Each year, the Wildlife Center admits thousands of young animals – the “baby season” at the Wildlife Center typically runs from February through October. These young animals keep the veterinary department busy – particularly the staff rehabilitators and students, as they feed these hungry patients many times a day! The variety of young songbirds require the most feedings -- many nestling birds require hand-feedings every 15-20 minutes throughout the day, from sunrise to sunset.

What better way to say "Happy Mother's Day" or "Happy Spring" than with a special Caring for Critters sponsorship of these special Wildlife Center patients?

As a special Spring Caring for Birds sponsor, you [or your gift recipient] will receive a special sponsorship packet, including:

  • Detailed information about a variety of songbird species, including the care they receive at the Wildlife Center, natural history information, and some tips on how you can help baby birds;
  • A photo of a baby songbird patient;
  • A personalized certificate of sponsorship;
  • Periodic email updates about some of our 2022 patients; and
  • An adorable songbird finger puppet from Folkmanis [4"-5" tall robin or cardinal puppet].

This sponsorship package is available for $35.  Shipping costs are included with the package.

Place your order for this special Spring Caring for Birds package today in our online shop! Orders will be fulfilled during the week of April 4th.

No phone calls, please! As we enter our busy spring season, we want to ensure the lines are open for people with wildlife emergencies and questions.

A variety of other Wildlife Center education animals are also available for “adoption” through the Caring for Critters sponsorship program.
