In the Classroom

A classroom visit provides an in-depth focus on one animal, in a small group setting. Visit includes touchable items and a live animal. Stories, PowerPoint presentations, or other learning tools may be utilized based on age.

Length: 30-minute program*
Group Size: Up to 30 students
Age: K - high school
Cost: $100 plus mileage**.

*For schools more than 15 miles away from the Wildlife Center, a combination with an assembly program [scheduled for the same day] is required.
**Mileage fee: A per-mile charge is applied to the round-trip distance from our location in Waynesboro, VA.



All about Owls
Learn about the owl species we have here in Virginia, and enjoy an in-depth exploration into the physical and behavioral adaptations of these top predators. Students will have the opportunity to examine touchable owl-related items and will meet a live owl!



For Goodness Snakes!
Virginia is home to more than 30 different species of snakes. This presentation discusses the physical and behavioral adaptations of these unique creatures. Students will meet a live snake and will have the opportunity to touch and examine snake-related items.



Turtle Time
Easily recognizable and typically docile, the Eastern Box Turtles are a beloved turtle here in Virginia. Learn about the many interesting adaptations of turtles. During this classroom visit, students will meet a live Eastern Box Turtle and have the opportunity to examine turtle-related items.
