2018 Year in Review: Amanda Nicholson, Director of Outreach
Was there a chance he was putting them on “our” perch … for me?
Was there a chance he was putting them on “our” perch … for me?
In some ways, part of my work at the Wildlife Center is being a boiler tender.
Because of my love for the “under-dogs”, people will often question, “Why do you bother rehabilitating something that is so common, like a squirrel or a duck or crow?”
The highlight of my time volunteering at the Wildlife Center during 2018 most certainly was being trained to handle Grayson, the Broad-winged Hawk.
Tears still come to my eyes when I think about her. Receiving the pictures of this bear was by far my favorite memory from 2018.
I am thrilled to begin the New Year at the Wildlife Center, performing a job that I love, and continuing to learn as much as possible before my time here ends!
It was a successful day spent fulfilling our mission and one of my favorite memories of 2018.
If you ask me, working hands-on with the Center’s education ambassadors nearly every day is one of the best things about being in the outreach department.
I had an amazing experience as an extern here at the Center and I am eager to see more unique species come in. Now that I am working at the front desk, I am especially excited to be the person admitting these patients!
It seems that no matter what life throws at this group, whether that be a traffic jam, an ice storm, a prolonged power outage, or a foot of snow overnight, they all are able to handle it with dignity and positivity.
