2013 Year in Review: Laura Boehler, Veterinary Student

It’s time to look back on 2013! Check our blog between Christmas and New Year’s for a variety of stories and memories of 2013 from the staff, students, and volunteers of the Wildlife Center.

I was lucky enough to spend a month at the Wildlife Center of Virginia during my senior year of vet school. I remember arriving there with the hopes of seeing a wild Black Bear. During my second week, we received SEVEN orphaned bear cubs. It was sad seeing them separated from their mothers due to human impact on their habitat, but I also felt lucky to be a part of their veterinary care and rehabilitation. Bears are such majestic creatures and I will forever cherish the time I got to spend with them!
