Paid Positions
Outreach Coordinator. The Wildlife Center is currently seeking applications for the position of Outreach Coordinator. This person will play a significant role in supporting and promoting the Wildlife Center’s mission of teaching the world to care about and to care for wildlife and the environment.
Responsibilities include:
• Working closely with the Director of Outreach, the Outreach Coordinator will help promote and improve ongoing outreach programs and identify and develop new outreach opportunities.
• Promote and share Center stories and information with supporters and the general public, including updates about current patients, stories about education animals, and current wildlife issues.
• Promote, schedule, and present on- and off-site outreach programs and events for various age groups.
• Develop and design educational information for Center visitors, including themed displays in the Center’s library and outdoor kiosks. Assist in the development and production of brochures, promotional items, and other marketing materials.

Training Positions [with financial aid]
Wildlife Rehabilitation Intern. The Wildlife Center is offering a six-month advanced training program in wildlife rehabilitation beginning in May and running through November 2012. Through this training program, the intern will gain intensive, hands-on training and experience in the field of wildlife rehabilitation; learn medical skills from staff veterinarians; and develop leadership and mentorship qualities by training and mentoring new volunteers and preceptorship students.
With the successful completion of the six-month training program, the intern will receive Advanced Certification in Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation from the Wildlife Center of Virginia.

Volunteer Internship & Preceptor Opportunities
The Wildlife Center of Virginia relies on hundreds of volunteers to help us help wildlife return to the wild. While many of our volunteers live nearby, WCV offers learning opportunities for everyone. One of the most popular volunteer experiences is our preceptorship program.
The preceptorship program offers 8-12 week internships to students and other people interested in wildlife rehabilitation and education. Preceptorships are available with two areas of emphasis: Animal Caretaker/Orphan Raiser and Environmental Education. Preceptors receive no salary; however, housing is provided when available.
