Breaking More Ground

On Monday, November 21, the Wildlife Center broke ground again — but this time, not for a new enclosure.  Kjellstrom & Lee construction workers were on hand to supervise the start of digging trenches for 2500 feet of underground conduit and 5000 feet of fiberoptic cable for the web cam network– a project made possible through a grant from the Merck Foundation.

It will take several weeks to get everything in place — digging the trenches, laying the lines, installing the network hubs, and fine-tuning all the details — but by early 2012, the Center hopes to be able to offer a multi-cam view.  This means that Critter Cam viewers can pick their own Critter Cam to watch throughout the day — perhaps it will be Hawk Cam, Bear Cam, Buddy the Bald Eagle Cam … or who knows!  There are many possibilities, and the Wildlife Center is excited to be one step closer to the web cam network!
