WCV Admits 443 Patients in June 2011

Following a frenzied May, June was ever-so-slightly calmer at the Wildlife Center of Virginia — though with 443 patients admitted, the staff still had their hands full.

Among the patients admitted were:bunting

  • Two juvenile American Mink
  • An Eastern Musk Turtle that swallowed a fish hook
  • A Long-tailed Weasel that was hit by a car
  • An Indigo Bunting that flew into a window

Some of the more common species admitted included 50 Eastern Cottontail Rabbits, 37 White-tailed Deer fawns, and 35 American Robins.

June also brought the admission of four more Bald Eagles — all young birds in their first year.  This brings the total number of Bald Eagle patients currently at the Wildlife Center to 11.

Day in and day out, the Wildlife Center relies on the support of individuals for its live-saving work.   Please help!
