Knitted Nests

Many of the Wildlife Center's new friends recently discovered that we can use knitted and crocheted nests for some of our young bird patients.  After receiving the pattern for the knitted nests and getting to work, our supporters have started mailing the finished products to the WCV.  So far, we've received more than 150 nests -- in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes.  There are some very crafty WCV supporters out there -- some nests even have the WCV initials sewn into them!  The other amazing thing is that these nests have been created all over the U.S. -- so far we've received the shipments from 11 different states. The rehab staff have already been putting the nests to good use.  Since a great deal of our patients at this time of year are baby birds, we definitely use these nests quickly.  Having a large pile of nests on the supply shelves is quite handy -- they come in a variety of sizes for all the different bird species and clutch sizes, they're washable, and if they wear out and need to be tossed after a few washes -- well, we have plenty!  Thanks to all our crafty friends! June 7 And they continue to arrive!
