Buddy Day 2010
On October 16, the Wildlife Center sponsored “Buddy Day” — a special day devoted to the young Bald Eagle, hatched at the Norfolk Botanical Garden, wh o is now a permanent resident at the Wildlife Center.
The day’s agenda included:
- Overview of the work of the Wildlife Center by President and Co-Founder Ed Clark;
- Video tribute to Buddy, created by Amanda Nicholson;
- Buddy Medical History by Dr. Dave McRuer;
- “Introduction to Raptor Training” — a presentation on the issues associated with training Bald Eagles in general, and Buddy in particular, by Claire Thain and Suzy Doell;
- A presentation by Dr. McRuer about building a permanent home for Buddy; and
- A guided tour of the Center’s outdoor education-animal enclosures, including Buddy’s current home.
